Technical Challenge: Leather Chess Board
When I was a kid, my dad taught me how to play chess - it became a big part of my childhood, my development, and really my whole life. One year for his birthday, I made my dad a chess board out of sticks, rocks and other things that I found outside. He loved it and kept it for as long as he could, but given it was made of sticks it eventually fell apart.
This year for Christmas, I decided to challenge myself and make him a new and improved version of that chess board - but out of leather this time!
I mentioned in a previous blog that attention to detail is not always my strong suit, so this project brought up some serious obstacles. But I am a huge craft person so I knew it would be fun!
It took me about 15 full days of work to complete this masterpiece (if I do say so myself!) I learned so much and had a BLAST making it.
